Power's 1st "Wild One" Birthday Party!

My little man is 1, y’all! I’m so excited to share details from Power’s Wild One Birthday Party with all of you!

I love birthdays! I either go all out for birthday parties or don’t do anything at all! This year, saying we were limited in the ways we could celebrate is a major understatement.

So we decided to do a small get-together (socially distanced, of course) with close family and some of Power’s biggest fans.

It was so fun seeing everyone and getting to celebrate my baby’s big milestone birthday!

Let’s be honest - this mama didn’t have the bandwidth to plan this party on my own.

Between the newest stay-at-home order in California and the juggling of our family’s schedule of work, school, and the holidays, I wasn’t sure how I would have the time to give Power the party and I wanted to.

Needing an extra set of hands, I called in the big dog: my friend, Marcella. Marcella is an event planner, but she’s also got the biggest heart and is always so quick to step in and help!

When I had shared with her I wanted to throw this COVID-friendly party for my little guy, she jumped in to help! I knew I wanted to do the “Wild One” jungle theme, and she took it from there!

“Above and Beyond” doesn’t begin to describe how Marcella showed out on the details of this party!

From the incredible balloon arch to the sweetest cake and cupcakes, every detail was perfect and more than I could have dreamt of.

When I walked in, my heart stopped and I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the people God’s given me to do life with!

The kids had so much fun playing and eating treats and the amount of joy and laughter in my home made my heart so full!

In true 2020 fashion, there were levels to this party: the small handful of people that joined us, the family and friends that did drive-bys outside, and the people from across the world that joined us on Zoom - from Africa to the UK!

It was unlike any party I’ve thrown before, but it was 2020 to a T!

I felt so happy knowing that people would take the time to celebrate my little guy in this way. It was really, really special.

(Freedom was not a happy camper, she wanted cupcakes and nothing else!)

I honestly couldn’t be happier with the way we got to celebrate the first year of little Power’s life! It was small and intimate, but isn’t that how this year has been?

I’m not sure about you, but one thing I’ve been able to take away from this year is the value and importance of my core circle - my ride or die friends, my sister & my support system.

They’ve held me up in this season!

How have you pivoted from the norm? How have you made 2020 birthdays special for your kids this year?

Let me know in the comments!
